CZ858 - Nonrestricted 

Today, the Honourable Steven Blaney, Canada’s Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Canada, announced the Harper Government has amended the firearms classification regulations to prescribe Ceska Zbrojovka (CZ) 858 rifles and certain Swiss Arms family of firearms as “restricted” or “non-restricted” as they were treated prior to February 26, 2014.

Quick Facts

These changes provide certainty for firearms owners who purchased a CZ 858 Tactical 2 or 4 rifle or certain Swiss Arms family of firearms in good faith, that they will not face any criminal consequences.

Information about how such firearms must be stored, transported or displayed is available via the Canadian Firearms Program.

At SHOT Show 2015, Kel Tec displayed a new variation of their Sub-2000 pistol calibre carbine. Well-liked by many due to it’s compact and lightweight folding design, as well as it’s capability to take a variety of pistol magazines, the second generation Sub-2000 improves upon that design with a few updates, including a significantly improved front sight post that’s threaded on and accepts all AR15 sight posts, and a latch mechanism that now closes on the (newly) railed fore-end rather than the front sight.

When I ask folks why they don’t shoot more often, their answer is typically along the same lines: practice takes a lot of time and money. “I wish I could afford to shoot more,” they say with a shrug. But when I’m at the range, I often don’t see people using their time and ammo as efficiently as they could. They dump magazine after magazine quickly downrange with little purpose in mind. While I understand the joy of rapid fire as much as anyone, it’s not always the best for building skills that will translate into real-world preparedness. Here are a couple things you might consider to ensure you’re getting the most from your training time while making every round count.
